Uploading This File Type Is Not Allowed

When I use the upload button to try to attach a file to a post, no what type of file I try, it says: This File Type Is Not Allowed. Does anybody know what file types are? I even tried a text file. Maybe this function is actually disabled but This Function Has Been Disabled isn't programmed into the forum software so it's just going with Uploading This File Type Is Not Allowed everytime you try?

I think only image files.

Donoreo image files are also restricted by size, so larger sizes still need an image host.

But there's a separate button for that. And I tried an image file anyway.

I just copy and paste images and the software here handles it.

Does anybody body know whether this forum software determines the file type by looking at the file extension or by analyzing the file? My texting app only lets me attach videos or pictures to texts for some reason. But I can get around that by giving the non video or picture file a video or picture file extension. So my texting app just looks at the file extension. I think DSLR works this way too. (I think).

Yesterday I was able to upload a PDF in another thread. It appeared to work fine, but then people reported they could not read it - denied access. The admins did something and it was accessible. So maybe they are straightening out upload of some other file types (although I tried to upload a MS Word .docx file and that was not permitted)

As a test I uploaded a zip file of the Comcast approved modems PDF I uploaded yesterday. See if you can access this zip file.

That was one of the file types I tried. I put the file I was trying to attach(a .HTML file) in a zip file. The forum software wouldn't accept it.😕

I am able to download the zip.

Also the image server is a different IP. My corporate network blocks it, but I had to put a custom HOSTS file to get past the dns sinkholing. I’m an admin so I can do this, but some networks you might not have control over.
