Open source OnlyOffice v8.3.0 released. If you have it installed the internal updater will kick in after about five seconds. For some reason to see the changelog for this version you have to scroll up the page from where the link takes you.

Thanks for introducing me to Only~~Fans~~Office. Never heard of it and I'm a FOSS geek. Read the web site. Seems like security is their primary differentiation. What would make a person use it over LibreOffice? That's been my go-to for longer than I care to admit.

I don't see any need to favor one over the other, although LibreOffice is certainly better known and more established. I must have a dozen office suites, both paid and open source, including but probably not limited to, these two, MS Office, since I can't stand Larry Ellison the last version of OpenOffice by Sun, three Ashampoo suites, Lotus SmartSuite, WordPerfect Office X8 and 2021, and even my old DOS suite that I run with DOSBox, Better Working Eight-in-One. Another open source one that is real interesting and currently in Alpha 5 that you might not have heard of is Rizonesoft Office.

I certainly agree that open source is the way to go wherever possible, since development is based on dedication to produce the best product and therefore not subject to the pressures of the profit motive that so often leads to cutting corners.

Oh, yeah–forgot to mention a few more, including free bee IBM Lotus Symphony v3.0.1, and with DOSBox WordPerfect 6.2 and 5.1 for DOS and MS Word 5.5 for DOS.😊

BTW, I figured out how to get the changelog link to display without having to scroll up and edited the link, so as stated in the earlier posts you no longer have to to view it. Again, you can use the internal updater that kicks in about five seconds after loading the app. In my view, this is an excellent free and open source office suite that you shouldn’t pass on.
