GPUs out of stock everywhere

Has anyone noticed that newer advanced GPUs are basically out of stock everywhere? I get the brand new Nvidia 5000 series are in short supply but I'm not looking for one of them. Even AMD XT 7900 XT/XTXs are out of stock. I'm not looking for a Halo Nvidia 4090 nor 5090.

Jbob With the threat of tariffs, suppliers may have bought up key supplies and will now sell them at the new MSRP which will includes the promised tariffs.

Jbob Thats just how it is. Everyone proved they would pay high prices for GPU's. So now all the scalpers buy as many as they can and sell them for a much higher price. If you want to pay retail, you have to wait a long while. Secondly enterprise users pay much higher prices for GPU's. So Nvidia and AMD have really no reason to increase the supply of gaming cards.

I bought a AMD 7800XT on sale on black friday. It was out of stock and said it would ship in a few weeks. It just got delivered about a week ago.

I guess they need to keep the cards scarce to justify the obscene prices that they are charging for them.

ugly95 I bought an ASRock RX 7800 XT card when they were first released. It’s a decent card. I would have preferred an nVidia 4000 series card at the time but I wasn’t crazy about the price and the RAM density so I compromised and went with AMD.

I was looking to possibly buy an Intel Arc B580 card. It looks like my local Microcenter has about 10 or 11 of them. That’s a low bar though. Unfortunately their pricing of ~$299 is about ~$50 above what one would expect.

Yeah, something seems to be going on.

Perhaps it’s speculative. Perhaps people expect incoming tariffs to hike prices and decimate stock so they are running through stock. Panic buying?

Lots of RTX4000 series available around here but the prices are as high as they ever were if not higher than at release -- there are definitely no discounts to be found. Note this is in Canadian $ so take 40% off to convert to US for those south of the border, but all of the 4080 Super boards are between $2300-$2600 an the 4080 boards are about $1900-$2100. 4070 supers about $1400, 4070 regular are about $900 ---- 4090 boards are still running $4000. I just checked out NewEgg and they have absolutely nothing 50xx in stock currently but the listed prices are generally lower than the equivalent 4080 and 4090 boards.

I was looking for a powercolor hellhound spectral, 7900xt or xtx. eBay wants too much for a used example, and more than even when the cards were in stock.

As it is, i literally can't start ordering parts because of it.

Was starting to panic a little when I saw the site just being gone, not mere days after going through the process of nuking my social account(s).

Wife had found info suggesting this site's creation, but of all things, my adblocking was configured in such a way to basically break the captcha that it was using for new account creation. So to register, I had to load up Edge of all things. 😹 Still, once I got past that hurdle, it was nice being able to log in here from my usual avenues 🙂

I was able to stumble on an XFX 7900 XT on Amazon for only $599. Terrific! Just what I was looking for and even cheaper than previous ones.

And I got up this morning to an email from Amazon saying my order was cancelled because the seller is no longer on Amazon. Crap. It appears they were marketing the incorrect GPU or something.

This again? This happened in 2021 when I tried to buy parts to build a new gaming rig. I had everything ordered, but when I went to order the graphics card, the store was all out. The only way to get a decent graphic card was to buy a pre-built PC that had the one you wanted and either use that PC, or harvest the card from it for your build. That's how I ended up with my HP Omen 30L.

The people that will pay thousands of dollars for a GPU are what is keeping the prices inflated. AMD and nVidia see that people are willing to pay this much and more so what reason do they have to lower prices or flood the market? I just looked at eBay at Sold Listings for the RTX5090. In the last ten sold, none were under $5,000 and two were at ~$7,000. It's absolutely insane what people are paying to get these!

InstaGator IKR! I post something similar on many Youtube review channels. We(the consumer) are our own worst enemy. It's one thing to over pay "slightly" for a new product but as what point does it become STUPID? However ECON 101 is rearing it's head here. The manufacturers can control half by simply controlling the SUPPLY side of things as what is happening with Nvidia currently. AMD seems to always have a supply issue as well.

I keep suggesting if us consumers would simply quit buying their overpriced GPUs the prices would come down. Fat chance of that happening however. I'm kicking myself now for hesitating on purchasing a 7900XT when they were down to $699. It is what it is for now.

Jbob In the days of mining that simply wasn’t the case. Consumers were priced out of the market by what was essentially off label usage for the product. Now AI has become a thing and the manufacturers have learned to pivot and cater to the new market. Controlling the market or bringing some sanity to it just doesn’t seem viable at this point.

Hasn't this issue always been like that? Hard to get newer stuff that don't have many.

antdude While that is generally accepted for newly released products due to demand the issue now is even older generation GPUs are out as well. It appears AMD and especially Nvidia have curtailed production on older models to clear them out leaving only newer models for sale.

Ugh, even older models. I was going to get replace my old 750 Ti even though I don't PC game much like I used to. I guess worse case scenario is to use my onboard Intel GPUs. 🙁

Was able to order a new RX 9070 XT(Red Devil) today from Amazon. One day shipping. One of the more expensive models unfortunately.
