“After the World Series, my wife Arlene and I had plenty of time to think about the past and look forward to the future. After many heartfelt conversations, we both decided it was time for me to step out of the booth and enjoy the years ahead,” Martinez said in a press release.
He’s 77, and no matter how fun it is, there’s a time where you just need to have a nice rest, and given the health stuff he’s been through, that’ll also allow some downtime. Maybe his health is declining and he just wants to spend more time with family. Much as he does annoy me a fair amount of the time, he was a fixture to the broadcasts and I genuinely do wish him well in his retirement
