Long time lurker of the DSLreports forum. I have a old Obi302 from a service provider that is no longer around. I was wondering if anyone has any information on how to get CFW flashed onto it- I am unable to access the web interface.

Assuming CFW means current firmware and the installed firmware is standard OBi fw...

Hold Reset Button on the OBi bottom for 15s to reset to fw defaults.

Connect PC to OBi LAN port. Browse to OBi default IP address 192.168.10.1 and login to the device webUI. Default login credentials are admin, admin.

If you can get into the webUI, you may want to put it in Bridge Mode to disable the router function and then the RJ45 ports are a LAN switch with a third interface internal. And then dial into the Auto Attendant to set the Ethernet switch to 100Mbps, full-duplex. I have the details for that.

When ready, upload the desired firmware. I have 202 firmware... it may be the same(?)

Disclaimer: I've never seen an OBi302 intended for VARs, so I would be experimenting.

You didn't say why - if the only problem is not knowing the IP address, you can get it from the phone interface by dialing ***4. It's documented in the OBiDeviceAdminGuide.pdf, page 27 (you can get from web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.obitalk.com/info/documents/* ).

Edit: Also, more info on the web interface on page 41 of the same guide.

A couple of things to keep in mind about an Obihai 302 or 300.

If it came from an Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP), it may be locked and you may not be able to access the web console. You may have to contact the ITSP to get it unlocked. If you don't know which ITSP it came from, try to go through the voice menus to get the NTP server. You may be able to figure it out that way.

The modified firmware is the same for the Obihai 302, 300, 202 and 200.

So I received two Obi202’s from eBay and I have soldered headers to all three (my original + two derelict units from eBay). I can communicate, but all three prompt for passwords. Does anyone remember or can point me in a direction with regard to the password necessary to root these things?

One of them flashes red on power up. The other prompts with “The requested URL was not found!” when trying to access the IP address assigned to the unit by my router.

Any help would be most appreciated!

nobody has cracked the root password for stock fw as far as i know. there are some exploits that just drop to a root shell on stock, but i havent published them. instead you can just use the published signature bypass exploit to write a new firmware with the password hash of your choice.

Although one of the units responded “The requested URL was not found!” when browsed to its “Internet” port, I was reminded here (reading an above post) of the LAN port and that the WebGUI was available at that port as well. Sure enough, although this unit did not respond to the Internet port, the LAN port was fully functional! I followed the three steps and now have modded firmware on one unit. Next to configure it for 2 GV accounts…

rws70 And finally there is a company called Ooma that has a polished voip home product that looks very tempting and is still relatively cheap. It comes with lots of support and equipment designed for a much simpler “plug and play” user experience.

OOMA is ok but they are a closed network, a regular ATA won’t work on Ooma, and the Ooma device won’t work on other providers (such as Callcentric, Voip.MS, Anveo, etc)

Not only is the recovered device from eBay working, but my old Obi202 is working too! Well, now I have a backup. Now to get them configured for GV. It hasn’t been connected to GV since September.

I realized that I had not reported on my conclusion. With my eBay purchase AND my original OBi202 both working I was able to get GoogleVoice to connect and work properly.
I intend to test one aspect that drove me nuts with the original firmware - operating on a fixed IP address. Has anyone tried assigning a static IP address?

for the webgui: the existing username/password that you have configured is unchanged when upgrading/downgrading firmware (the default was admin/admin unless you changed it). this is reset via device config reset.
for the ssh shell added by the custom firmware: this is separate from the webgui credentials (the default is root/obi unless you log into ssh and change it)

My obi200 was working up until a few days ago, without new firmware. Now I guess I have to install it but I don’t know how.

Anybody up for helping me figure out how to find my current firmware version and then how to install the correct firmware from https://www.obifirmware.com/#cta ? I’d be extremely grateful.

I did it! I think. I’ll spell out how for all those wandering in the dark like me.

I figured out that I had to get to the old original setup page by dialing ***1 on my internet phone (info I had in my records). On the “system status” page I saw that my firmware was 1.4. After I saw a Reddit post I found “device update” under “system management.” Then I went back to the new firmware page at obifirmware.com, downloaded OBi2xx-3-2-2-8680EX-arrynrob13.fw and then uploaded it to my Polycom Obi “device update” slot. Followed directions to reboot and bingo bango, my phone works.

Phew.

Daze3 If you don’t have one already, grab a copy of OBiDeviceAdminGuide.pdf from https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.obitalk.com/info/documents/* . The OBi’s phone and web interfaces are described in pages 27 and 41. In particular, you can get the OBi’s IP address by dialing ***1 or ***4 (or you might be able to get it from your router’s web interface). Then you should hopefully be able to access the OBi’s web interface at that IP address. The default login creds are admin/admin. Upgrading the firmware is under System Management/Device Update. The current firmware version is under Status/System Status/Product Information.

Hi, I’ve got an obi200 that had been working with GV but stopped working in the last few months. (We don’t use it very often.) When I investigated, I discovered the whole change with GV from 11/1/2024. I found the arrynrob13 firmware and decided to try it. But I’m having trouble linking with my Google Voice account. After installing arrynrob13 I click on the Google Voice->Provisioning. I go through the steps down through pasting the URL from the 404, and pulling out the token. I do all that, paste the token into the authpassword field, then submit, then provision the other few items - submit then reboot. When it comes back up, the System Status under SP1 Service Status is ‘Connecting to 216.239.36.145’. And it stays stuck with that status forever. Outgoing calls end in intercept. Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong, or what to look at?

dartrio Are you following through with the instructions to paste the configuration url into local webgui at System Management > Auto Provisioning > ITSP Provisioning > ConfigURL, set provisioning “Method” to “System Start”, click Submit at the bottom, then click Reboot to force the config to download?

You can’t just paste in the token and set your own config. You have to paste in the correct obifirmware.com url to the ITSP configuration page so it correctly configures your OBi.

primerisk Hi primerisk - Yes, after pasting the refresh token into the Authpassword, I hit submit. Then navigate over to System Management -> Auto Provisioning -> ITSP Provisioning -> ConfigURL and paste in the SP1 URL (https://www.obifirmware.com/fw/EnableGVSIPWithoutOBiTALK.xml); set the Method to System Start, then submit and reboot. When it comes back up, the status is stuck on ‘connecting’. If I navigate to ITSP Provisioning, the Config URL and Method are still set correctly. I do notice though, the Voice Services-> SP1 Service -> AuthPassword is only showing like eight dots, instead of a lot of dots representing that long string that was in the refresh token? Is that normal?
