Went to see #2 with a friend... but didn't get a chance to rewatch #1 before I went, so my memory was a bit hazy what transpired.
- The new character of the female General was a great addition to the lore, and wasn't just eyecandy or a walking cliche.
- get to see more of the 4 giantshinted at the end of the first movie.
- plot-wise things seemed alot tighter than the 1st movie, which I've critiqued as missing "connecting tissue" between scenes.
- some further expansion on the characters introduced in the first movie, but would've been nice to add more IMHO.
- nice touch in the credits explicitly stating there's 3 post-credits scenes to stick around for.
All-in-all I enjoyed the movie for what it is, but I'm lacking alot of cultural context and background. Kind of like reading Shakespeare for the first time and going "Who is X, and what / why is Y going on?"
...and I'll have to check when #3 comes out!
