For context, from the moment I first heard of them I wanted a fairphone so bad. Naturally frustrating that despite compatibility not being a problem regarding bands, the manufacturer of fairphone refuses to sell to the states. So what should be a $500 phone if released lawfully here, ends up becoming $900+ entirely because I then have to import one from britain at post-VAT rates.
so more recently I kinda stumbled across a youtube short (of all things) showing a phone I'd not heard about before, that while not as strictly modular as the Fairphone 5, was able to be opened with just one screw, and the screen popped out for replacement by levering it out with the same screwdriver.
The phone in question was something from a company called HMD. That said, up until that video I never heard of this company. The site suggests it was a company formed by the members of what was left of Nokia's phone division before Microsoft let it go when Windows Phone was officially discontinued 🙁
Given how much I've been aching for a root-able phone again after years of being without, their Skyline (top-end) one seems tempting, along with the notion of such an easily accessible, user replaceable battery. I'm just wondering if anyone else here, knows anything about them in particular?
