urbanriot We definitely ordered way more delivery through uber eats and skip the dishes - probably twice what we normally would have, and from slightly more expensive places - between free/no fee delivery offers they were having, plus no HST, it became as cheap to get delivered from mid-tier restaurants as it would have been to go to them - so we got stuff like Jack Astors, Lonestar, Milestones, The Works, etc over the 3-4 weeks from Mid Dec - early Jan - and added in some local places like Woodenheads, KBC, Red House. Atomica, and Harpers. Probably 10 total things - normally over that time frame it would have been at most 3-4 places. It was sort of the mindset of "this discount doesn't go on for long, we might as well take advantage of it while we can and get some things we normally don't"
Overall retail sales probably wouldn't have been as impacted by it as restaurant sales, as they and LCBO were likely the biggest beneficiaries of the program - it's not like you could walk into WalMart and buy a $500 cart full of random housewares and electronics and travel accessories and come out tax free.
