For anyone with an antenna, unless you are close and have very strong signals, you can run into issues with Tropospheric Ducting. Basically atmospheric conditions that can allow stations from further away to bounce around and even through a duct, and come out near you. With the repack a few years ago, stations on the same frequency are much closer together.
One site to keep track of that is William Hepburn's DXInfo Centre. It has a sort-of weather map showing the likelihood of ducting and it's strength over an area. On the ste, clicking on the map advances forward in time. Be aware the time shown is GMT, so you need to adjust for your local time.
