Astyanax I still say AppleCare along with any other warranty is a waste of money unless you know you regularly break your phone getting at least the cost of such warranty back in repair costs.
I'm on my 10th iPhone since the 3G. I only got the AppleCare once, that was for the iPhone 6, which i thought could be an issue with the larger screens and curved sides, that it could be easier to break. I ended up using the Applecare after just under 2 years because of the battery issues those phones had. I sold the replacement, they were still replacing them back then.
Other than that I've never broken the screen, the rear glass, anything on any of my iPhones. Always use a decent case with a lip over the front screen and on the larger phones i started using a glass screen protector since XS Max.
I see so many people with cracked screens and they never have a case on. kinda baffling on these $1000+ devices.
