The installer came yesterday right on time. He was very friendly and went over the functions of new remote with us. He set up the router and then the boxes. One of the Fios One boxes came with 2 splitters which he pocketed. I couldn’t think of a need for them so I let that go. He didn’t use any of the cords that came with the new stuff other than the power cord for the router. Instead, he used the power and old HDMI cables already in place.
Things seemed to go OK until we actually started using the new “upgraded” equipment for real.
The aggravation continues.
I had to go into the router and get my wifi all set up like it was before - that part was no biggie and get the security cameras working again.
The 2 cameras using the wifi extender work fine however, the one using POE does not. I’ve spent a LOT of time trying to get it working but no luck. Long story short - The only thing I can think of to try now is the camera will have to be physically taken down from it’s location which means I’ll have to try to get someone to come climb up a ladder to do it, reset the camera and start all over again software-wise then get someone to go back up the ladder and put it back.
I can no longer use my HDPVR because the “upgraded” equipment does not have component and the installer did not have an HDMI to Component adaptor/converter for it.
In addition, some of our TV channels don’t work on all TVs. When going to the History channel, it showed a screen - something about checking the coax cable and rebooting the box which we did. Then the screen said something about it finding our package and activating the channel. It took a few hours to start working but by then, the Mr missed the show he wanted to watch. Some other channels still don’t work on any of the TVs and the trouble shooting screen that showed up for the History channel does not show up for these other channels. Instead, the picture stays frozen on a frame from whatever show was on the previous channel and the audio is all chopped up. Rebooting the boxes does not fix it. SNR level for SYFY channel says “error”.
The installer told me to text him if we had any trouble for the next 7 days so I did that this morning. Haven’t heard back from him yet though.
He did not take any of the extra new equipment with him (other than the splitters that came with the Fios One boxes) so I guess I’ll return those along with the old equipment at UPS. Hopefully my bill won’t get more screwy because of the 2 different order #s (the equipment that was delivered used the original order # that agent #1 supposedly cancelled while the billing order # is from Agent #2 which is also the order # the installer had).
