ZZZZZZZ Wow and they keep talking about how great this franchise is.
It was. They’ve won 27 World Series–nobody else even comes close. See here. I grew up in the Bronx, where if you weren’t a Yankee fan your life was at risk, so that should give me some credibility. Again, they were from the early 1920s through the early 1960s, but since then they’ve just been another among many competitive teams, and that has been the case ever since despite that during the latter part of the 20th Century Steinbrenner invested loads of cash that produced only mediocre results. Of course I was a big fan as a kid, if only for my safety, 😂 but that all ended with the arrogance of Steinbrenner. The best seasons for their well deserved and overdue humiliation was in 1963 losing four straight to Koufax and Drysdale and 2004 with the Red Sox coming back from a 3-0 deficit to beat them in the ALCS as well as coming in last place in 1966. But, no matter what, you’ve got to love Berra and Rizzuto.
