Even the fanboys who could afford the Vision Pro don’t use it very often. Most said it was cool for the first week or two, then they put it down and rarely used it again.

I have 500/20 Spectrum. I’d kind of like faster upload that maybe Spectrum will offer at some point or that fiber gives but in practice I don’t see why people crave these multi-gigabit speeds because when browsing you don’t see any difference on anything maybe over 50 megabits and with very few exceptions do you get the download speed that the paid for speed can give, typically getting about 5 megabytes per second instead of the 70 megabytes that 560 megabits cable speed with over-provisioning is capable of providing. Although I’d take it faster upload it comes in handy almost only for cloud backup that I don’t use.

I’m still on a grandfathered “60 mbits” plan: cheap bastard me. Speedtest.com shows 78 down and 93 up (YES!). https://www.speedtest.net/result/18088186944 According to Netflix https://help.netflix.com/en/node/306 15 mbps will handle 4K. So my current service is overkill. I’m single and live by myself. I no longer have Netflix. I sometimes binge out on Youtube. There are a few times when 1080p at 60 FPS is worth it.

I run linux; I don’t know how large the monthly Windows update is.

190mbps. On a 1080p video on Youtube. The video in question (Crab Rave) is available in 4k.

And that’s with today’s technology. We’re undoubtedly going to come up with something that sucks up more bandwidth, and it’ll probably be sooner than you think. I can remember when I couldn’t imagine how it would be possible to saturate the 1mbit DSL connection I had.
