Out here it is predictable, a little West of where I live State Troopers tend to park in the middle of the highway, at that point it is a long straight run off of 27, it’s 60 MPH and lead foots tend to speed, really speed, a few of weeks back I had a guy in a pickup truck blow past me doing 90, my first thought was “uh dude you may want to slow down because there is a good chance there is going to be beige and black Dodge Charger sitting in the middle of the highway about a mile ahead” and there was, he blew past the Trooper and I don’t think he even saw him as they do not have light bars on their cars anymore, about another mile or so down the road I saw blue lights behind me so I pulled to the right and clocked the Trooper doing 116.
A little further down the road he had the guy in the pickup pulled over and I doubt the driver of the pickup was issued a warning.
On that stretch of the highway I normally do 69 which saves time and I have passed Troopers and HCSO deputies running RADAR and have never got their attention, they only seem to care about vehicles speeding way over the limit,
Then last week I went down to Naples to pick up 5 real nice 12 volt UPS’s that where on Craigslist for free, I was heading West on 82 and clocked a guy heading East in a late model Mustang at 99, my first thought was “you better keep the horse under control boy” out there 82 is two lane with canals on both sides and they are only about six feet off the road and one little mistake, would be a bad mistake.
The driver would probably survive, banged up a tad, but alive as the water would slow the vehicle down and it is only about ten foot or so deep, but his Mustang would be totaled out and probably full of turtles and muck. ;-)
