Dks01 That’s the limit but that’s not the speed that many people drive. On divided highways it’s typically 25 km/hr (15 mph) over in the fast lane. On 2 lane highways with an 80 km/hr (50 mph) limit, it’s usually 15 km/hr (9 mph) over. Police know this and since demerit points don’t start until 16 km/hr (10 mph over), a ticket for less than that is very rare. The ticket fine for 15 km/hr over is $50, which is essentially a waste of the officer’s time to issue. Hence there is an unwritten understanding of how much you can speed, as noted above.
Where I live it’s mostly 2 lane roads, some of which have long straight sections. Excellent for passing drivers doing the limit. In my Camaro I’ve passed as many as 6 cars at once, but usually it’s just a couple. I check google maps first to makes sure there are no intersecting roads, as a car turning into the lane as I’m passing the car(s) would be unpleasant. Not gonna lie it’s a rush when I shift down and step on it to hear the engine and Borla Atak exhaust sing.
