Sipnetic softphone

I had been using the free version of Zoiper for some time, but had trouble installing it on a different cellphone.

Just started using the free softphone Sipnetic (for the Callcentric VoIP service) and it works very well.

The Sipnetic “wizard” however enters callcentric.com as the SIP server, whereas the SIP server should be entered as sip.callcentric.net which is the preferred address now.

I was using GS Wave Lite for years and FusionPBX used to create QR codes for each extension for Grandstream, but that is no longer included. If there is another QR code generator for FusionPBX, I will find it. Of course, I had to manually enter since I run my own server. Very nice client.

I’ve been using Sipnetic for years, connecting to my asterisk server running on a VPS. For the most part, it works well. It is a little heavy on battery usage, but that’s to be expected since there’s no push option. I also use it for SMS and direct messages.

One oddity, is that I have to specify a custom DNS server, otherwise it won’t work. I am using wireguard on my phone, connected to the same VPS that asterisk is running on. It might have something to do with that; I’m not sure. But nothing else on my phone has a DNS problem.
