Simons to open their first store in Toronto

With the Bay going under, and other fashion retailers closing up stores or failing entirely this is an interesting development. Simons is a family run firm* (as Eatons once was) but it seems focused on success rather than cashing out and goofing off. As we elbow our way through life it’s nice that there is a increase in retail choices, especially ones not based in the USA.

*based out of Quebec and been in business since 1840.

I discovered Simons on my first trip to Montreal quite some time ago and it’s still great to this day. Thankfully there’s one closer to me in Mississauga, but I’ll usually pop into the Montreal store when I’m there.

I think the closet thing I can compare it to is Fenwicks back in my old home town, maybe even Hoopers too.
