Microsoft Edge: Scareware Blocker

For those of you who use Microsoft Edge, you can now enable Scareware Blocker.

Dustyn I just opened Edge and checked. It looks like it was enabled by default as I didn't switch it on.

This option is of very questionable utility, if not downright perilous to use--see here. Might need to hit translate.

A solution is then offered that is not a solution. It can lead to your own data being read out or demands for money. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen has so far been used to combat such scams. However, this can only block what is known.

Kathy_9 Mine was switched off. Perhaps it's a staggered roll out in terms of when it's switched on by default. I turned it on and immediately saw my download speed monitor spike up to 500Mbit/s for about 4-5 seconds before settling down to idle.

Do not see this setting in my Edge. Is this for Canary build only?

Trooper I'm seeing the option on version 132.0.2957.140 (Official build) (64-bit) (But I need to update because a newer version is available.)

Go to "Settings" - "Privacy, search, and services" - scroll down to the "Security" section.

I hear you but it does not exist for me. I am also on 134 now.

Make sure Edge is fully closed and not running in the background.
Use Task Manager to end Edge if it's listed, or just restart your PC.
