Charter’s video biz makes big strides, but investors latch onto Q2 broadband loss
Charter’s video losses fell to 80,000 in Q2 as more customers attached video to their bundles and the company’s streaming app integration strategy started taking hold. But Charter’s stock fell because investors cared more about its loss of 117,000 broadband subs.

Charter Communications saw video subscriber losses plummet to just 80,000 in Q2 2025, versus a year-ago loss of 408,000, an improved result that comes as Charter’s strategy to bundle streaming services with the primary pay-TV package starts to take hold and as more new and existing customers attach video to the bundle. It was Charter’s best video subscriber result since 2021.
While that would seem to be a trend worth cheering about, investors jeered Charter’s overall results primarily because all they seem to care about these days is cable’s broadband results.
In the broadband category, Charter shed 117,000 customers (-111,00 residential and -6,000 business), reducing its total to 29.9 million (27.86 million residential and 2.03 million business). Analysts expected Charter to lose 74,000 broadband subs. The Q2 result was improved from a year-ago loss of 149,000 subs amid the demise of the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). ….
