Dks01 It might show that a handshake deal is an agreement, including a handshake emoji.
Especially if the 2 parties have a history of handshake agreements without further paperwork, forms, signatures, or other formalities.
If they had never met and never worked together and never done any past deals, it’s probable that the courts may have said “well a thumbs up from someone without any other communication happening between two unknown parties on first contact hardly forms an agreement or contract, it may have just been an acknowledgement of receipt of the proposal” - however when two parties commonly communicated and agreed on proposals with “ok” “yup” and “uh huh” in the past and have a history of doing such – it’s a pretty safe bet a court would say “well historically your affirmations were simple, quick, and didn’t involve anything further, thus it’s a safe assumption on behalf of the party you were working with, that your thumbs up was yet another one of those simple affirmations and thus, the contract was agreed to”.
Business and contract law is long and tortuous and has tens of thousands of cases of precedent and situationality (I don’t know if that’s a word) is a huge part of all those precedents – business law tends to look at the relationship history between the parties, the information both parties had, and in a lot of ways tends to defer close to “what would be a reasonable inference from the given situation” - handshake agreements being held up in court are very common when there’s a history of them on behalf of either the situation or the parties at hand - this is pretty similar.
