If you go into a corn field this time of year the first thing that hits you is the humidity. The next are the insects. Corn in tassel attracts pollinators. Right now the heat is causing the corn leaves to close up a bit to save moisture in them, even though we have plenty of rain.
We usually have several thousand acres of corn of surrounding our burg. I love it in the evenings when the sweet smell of ripening ears is carried to us. It only lasts a couple of weeks, but it sure is nice.
The soybeans are doing well too.
