HooRU my cable operator has contractors trenching and boring to insert orange conduits, new flush mount pull boxes, new pedistals all over my neighborhood.
They are working to get all the conduits done throughout our township this year and then in 2026 pull and splice fiber, test and then hookup customers.
I have 1 gig with them now, it’s about 920 down by 103 up, 12ms latency. I’ll likely stick with 1 gig when I switch to the fiber but it’s 1 gig upload as well, and the broadband facts card says 2.25 ms latency. They will also have a 5 and an 8 gig plan offered.
There’s also other fiber startups here in PA. Fastbridge Fiber, Empire, and I think another one. Blue Ridge and SECV (who I have) are moving to fiber from cable. Windstream also did a lot of fiber with their “kinetic” product. Verizon is the one company just sitting on their hands doing nothing with their copper phone lines around here. I think they would rather be a wireless company. Better ARPU.
