This is CRAZY:
Had the computer shutdown all night just restarted it and Firefox came up and did a checking for updates and it indicated to complete 140.04 update (but that was there already running) then it checked for current version and did a quick almost immediate update to 141.0 32 bit instead of the 64 bit version and allowed it to finally be set as the default browser and then all the Desktop shortcut icons are now working but still did not reinstall the original passwords or bookmarks.
I will Keep this version for now and forgo any additional misadventures
