thenewdc Really? I feel like the "price per service" has actually dropped substantially the last 5 years -- my bill with Telus is about 60% as much as I was paying in 2020 for less service (in 2020 I was on a 25GB data, Canada wide plan with one device on the service, and I was paying $95/mo for service and a $30/mo device payment for $125 total. In 2022 I "upgraded" my phone handset by buying my own Pixel 6 and changed my plan to a 50GB/mo "canada wide" plan and that was $89/mo for the service, no payment for handset obv. Then in 2024 I upgraded to a Pixel 8 phone (again bought through google so no payments) and Telus had a 200GB "All North America" BYOD plan for $65/mo available at the time -- so now I'm paying $65+tax for 200 gigs with no roaming in Canada or US, in 2020 I was paying $95+tax for 25 GB of data in Canada only.
