Free VoIP.ms Softphone is now available for Android/iOS

I believe the new VoIP.ms Softphone is a white label version of the Acrobits Groundwire softphone and/or Acrobits SIP Softphone (FAQ: Groundwire vs SIP Softphone).

I will not be using the new VoIP.ms Softphone since I already use Groundwire. Groundwire has been flawless here (FAQ: Push Notifications), so this bodes well for the new VoIP.ms Softphone. It’s good to see VoIP.ms adopt the Acrobits product.

The user might want to pay Acrobits their small one-time fee for Groundwire to get the full default product direct and in the spirit of DIY BYOD with the expectation that it will be usable with any ITSP, not just VoIP.ms.

Acrobits is now owned by Sinch AB, Stockholm, Sweden.

This is a use case for old cell phones. Guinea pigs/sandboxes. I download VoIP.ms’s app this morning.

Seems decent. Although I could receive texts, I couldn’t send them. I didn’t spend time screwing with that issue as I don’t use their texting solution. It’s probably something stupid on my part. Whatev.

I have not used the VoIP.ms softphone… my only opinion of it is noted in my OP.

I use the Acrobits Groundwire softphone with VoIP.ms voice and SMS text. It should work with many providers.

I recently started using the Sipnetic softphone with another provider, and I see that Voip.MS discusses Sipnetic also.
