Today's food craving?

I'm broke so it has to wait, but I'm craving a Pizza from Oakville down the road, they make a really great all the way pie. I'm so tired of my own cooking (though I'm a very good cook). What is also a bummer is that I can only afford Aldi's which is both good and bad. It's a good store, but there are so many foods I wish for that I can't get. I sure would love to make a big batch of Hummus again, and home made Pita. And Dolmates. We have a terrific Lebanese place down the road, the owners are really lovely people, very community oriented and the food is amazing.

The double dash of oil used to grill the hash browns provided a great artery blocking alternative to the cheddar.

Regarding cheese, a heaping layer of cheddar and sour cream on a bowl of Wick Fowler chili is a beautiful thing to scarf upon.

I like waffles plain, with a dollop of butter but no syrup, but like my cornmeal pancakes with light maple syrup.

Real Maple Syrup is a must in my household. Thankfully I still have connections in Upstate NY to supply my needs 😃

We had a family friend who made a small amount of maple syrup from the trees around his property. He would always give us a bottle to use. He moved away a few years ago and now we have to buy real maple syrup as we are spoiled and “Log Cabin” syrup will no longer do! 😉

egeezer I miss my Hometowns Waffle shop, They had the best Chicken and gravy waffles, They had other types of waffles but I liked the chicken and gravy ones the best. Sadly I hear they closed.

HFB1217 I’ve been wanting to make falafels for some time. I would often visit a falafel sandwich shop just outside of of the UTK campus. I don’t know of anywhere local that serves them, so I’ll have to make my own.

Here’s a good recipe. I’ll probably make mine in an air fryer and skip on the oil.

Got some tahini sauce coming from California. I have all the other ingredients for falafels, so next weekend. If it turns out good I’ll start making my own tahini.

I don’t know why I keep looking in this thread. I think I like to suffer. My religious education.

For some reason at around 78-79 yrs old, I developed food allergies. I can’t eat anything that taste good. Realizing that for a 3rd generation Italian, this is cruel and unusual punishment. 😩

There was a small gyro place just off of GA Tech campus where I first had this Greek wonder. But it was another restaurant in Atlanta, Shipfeifer On Peachtree, where I fell in love with them.

I use to work at a restaurant on Peachtree next to R.Thomas called Shipfeifers. We would get slammed busy on lunches daily! Best gyros and chicken & steak & cheese wraps in town! …for years they were open. Their cottage fries with feta cheese dressing I crave to this very day! Didn’t make me much money being in college but the free food (basically) was worth it! I think R.Thomas bought it out last I recall! I think he tricked the owner into selling as she never wanted him to ruin it! RIP Shipfeifers on Peachtree.
