As some of you may know I was a die-hard U-Verse fan. As of today though I finally had to give them the ax. AT&T divested themselves of their remaining media company holdings a month or two ago which meant they no longer could give me any more promos on my HBO Max or Cinemax channels jacking up my rate from like $9/month to $26/month. They even retroactively rescinded the promo from the prior billing period. I guess someone in accounting was ordered to claw back that dough too. My final TV costs alone with taxes were $271/month and that didn’t include my Internet or wireless I have with them.
They were already slow-boiling me with rate increases over the years but this was the last straw. I was assessing various replacements and decided on DirecTV Stream which seemed to be the closest to what I was enjoying with U-Verse. I’m now paying almost $100/month less than I was before (with new customer 2-year promos). Let’s see how this turns out.
