Splitpair Yes, against your other statements, practice, practice. And not just when you feel like it. It needs to be consistent. Practice needs to be planed out and systematic as well. Each week something new needs to be entered into the brain, eys, and hands.
I am presently working on the Mixolydian and some “Jazz Chords”. I am reviewing the diatonic progression in its positions, improving runs, and learning the fretboard better.
I’m planning on adding practice to recorded content (ie, songs) soon. This helps train the ear and trains rhythm.
If practice is only aimless noodling, you won’t advance much, if at all. If practice is only when you feel like it, unless you are really driven, you won’t advance much.
It’s work, but it’s fun work. But with no pain is no gain.
