Just popped on to see how things are going. Going to be offline for a good bit. Been ill since May and still not better. Gotta wait another week and a half until I get my results from the GI doc. However, I would like to actually keep my food down.

Plus I can’t wait until I can stop taking Metoclopramide

The only thing that I know is that being sick is no fun. I would have thought that I would have been over this by now.

I ended up with diverticulitis. Then 2 days later I ended up with an upper respiratory infection. Put on antibiotics for both. 3 ER visits. Then saw an GI doctor and got scoped.

The upper respiratory infection finally went away in 3 weeks. But the stomach gotten worse.

So far I know that I have a hital hernia (hospital said it was very large and made sure I got an appointment. (I turned down being admitted.). (I couldn’t leave mom alone for that long.)

So got the appointment and scoped. I have gastritis, my entire esophagus is inflamed and gastroparesis.

I’m miserable.

I’m luckily if I can keep anything down. At least I’m losing some weight but not the way I wanted to lose the weight.

I see the GI doc tomorrow so hopefully will have a plan going forward since trying to take the medication they put me on isn’t staying down ugh.

They come back up as well. Just got back from my 4th ER visit. Had to get iv fluids.

Found out today with the latest CT that I have a sliding hiatal hernia. That is causing the gastritis.

So now I get to see what my GI doctor wants to do however just trying to control this with diet isn’t working so far.

GeekGirl1 True. Hopefully they won’t be too conservative with this and try all of the non-surgical options. Because so far it isn’t working. Will find out soon.

MyvDad had a hiatal hernia. Food and fluids would get stuck part way down, and he had acid reflux. It was a painful condition.

He had surgery to repair it which at the time involved an incision along the rib cage from the sternum almost to the spine. It improved his wellbeing immensely.

Now I understand it’s much less invasive today, laparoscopy, but it’s still surgery.

So i found a general surgeon that does hiatal hernia repairs.

She is doing a major work up on me. Got tons of testing to complete to see if the hiatal hernia repair will be beneficial.

Hopefully in a month or two they figure out what is up with my stomach. But i have been feeling better these last few days

My Dad used a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of baking soda to ease his heartburn. Occasionally he drank buttermilk to help. That was before Nexium(esomeprozole) was available. Your doctor can let you know if either is okay to try.

So finally over the stomach pain. Also no longer vomiting. Yes. But the vomiting cause my neck to flair up, but I get an injection for that in two weeks.

So I got the Gastric Emptying study done. It was determined that my gastric emptying is normal. So I do not have gastroparesis.

Trying to figure out how the GI doctor I was seeing determined that and figured it out. Back in 2023, I was on Ozempic. So when the doctor did the Endo he said I still had food in my stomach. Of course I will, I was on Ozempic and it causes gastroparesis. It how the medication works.

So when I went back to him he decided that I had it without any proper testing for it.

I been off of Ozempic because he said I had gastroparesis.

I see a different GI doctor tomorrow.

My last appointment with the previous GI doctor didn’t go well. He snapped at me. He wanted me off of the Lyrica and Morphine. Stated that I won’t stop vomiting until I stop the medication. Now I am feeling much better, I been taking both of those meds because I have no choice but to take them to control my pain.

He also put me on Reglan so since I don’t have gastroparesis, I have stop taking the medication. Plus the medication can cause some very severe side effects so I took my self off of that medication.

I am still getting the work up to see if I need hiatal hernia surgery but at least I am finally feeling better.

Now I just need to catch up on posts.
