Astyanax Walmart is not the problem. They would build it if they could, but it will be blocked by the same forces that blocked the Energy East pipeline. Canada does not want large companies to be successful, especially American companies, and especially if it means building massive infrastructure that will drive up carbon emissions. Something about a nose and a face.

Also in 2 years, the balance of power in the US legislative branch has a good chance of flipping, especially at this rate.

If this were a baseball game, we're still in the top half of the first inning.

The game will go into the 9th inning, and maybe more.

This is NOT to dismiss the high seriousness of the issues, rather to observe that there is a lot ahead.

The dollar will get a lot stronger though which will help dampen inflation risks. It's already up over 1% on the loonie and peso today.

urbanriot Gas prices will fluctuate because of the commodity market. I expect that carbon tax, which is only a tax in certain politician's minds, will likely disappear by April. BTW, gasoline futures are down and stable.

DueSouth I profoundly disagree. The attitude of adapting and overcoming, even if it is painful, is still very much present. There have just been louder voices from the fringe which have dominated the narrative. The PM's message on Saturday night reflected that. The weak echoing of the fringe voices is notable.

Astyanax Canada is planning tariffs on strategic minerals such a nickel and potash. A stronger dollar benefits no one. It inhibits trade.
