I hear you. but I’m also saying that there is absolutely good coffee that can be described as such. I have an example of it in the hopper of my coffee grinder at this moment. It’s Happy Goat’s Popayan. I’d give you the grind settings on my grinder, but that’s very subjective and it’s unlikely you have the same grinder I do - I’ll just say it’s a relatively coarse grind, and the dose is about what you’d expect for 4 cups of coffee. The coffee maker is a fairly standard drip maker.
Remember that I did say that there’s a lot of expensive coffee that doesn’t use a process that produces sweet/fruity coffee. There’s also a lot of pretentious and overpriced coffee (you’ll never convince me to drink the stuff they harvest from civet poop, for example).
Also maybe we should define what we mean by “sweet”. It’s never going to be as sweet as it’ll get if you empty a packet of sugar into it, nor from what you’ll get from a hard candy or a cake. If that’s what you’re expecting then no, no coffee is like that. But that’s not the kind of sweet I mean when I say that my preferred coffee has a sweet & fruity flavour. It’s a lot more subtle.
