It would be great to have a speed test that could publicly hold ISP’s feet to the fire. I’m an EBOX customer, and while I get good results with https://nperf.ebox.ca, I’m seeing a bump in ping times between 20:00-22:00 or so, with a major impact on bandwidth on automated speedtest.net tests.
By and large, it’s “fine” as the 1Gbps fibre service is such a massive overkill for us, and the latency bump is outside the times when we typically VC. However, there are other people complaining about this on the EBOX forum, and EBOX is basically down to “have you rebooted your router?”, where the problem is clearly congestion either in their network or in their peering.
