codezer0 absolutely no routers I could find even talk about having a single 10g port, let alone enough for a home network. Just so bizarre…
10 Gig has always been expensive. ALSO it uses a lot of power, at least 10 Gig Ethernet. With 2.5 and 5 Gig being a thing, I dont see 10 gig router happening any time soon. Most people who do 10 Gig buy a switch and hook all their 10 Gig devices up to that switch.
Ive noticed that 2.5 Gig has started to become more common as faster than Gigabit internet has become more common. Thats the other thing, Internet speed has a lot to do with it. For like ever Gigabit was like the cap. Now that 2 Gig and in some cases faster is a thing, we are started seeing 2.5 and 5 Gig ports uses.
Further more, the average person probably doesn’t really use Ethernet all that much. Most people are fine connected to WiFi. WiFi works for the average tech use. Most homes are not wired for Ethernet. To be most companies know this, thats why they prioritize WiFi speeds and Mesh systems.
