FrankCole It’s not an argument it’s a fact. Do you know of other charities who are so entangled with the media entities they are associated with that they sit on their patron’s website? Is there an NBC charity that sits on nbc.com? Is there a CNN charity that sits on cnn.com? The fact of the matter is that they are in bed with the BBC “brand”.
URL location is less important than funding, and I will explain later why.
In any case, while CNN doesn’t have a charity organization, NBC does, and it’s called Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation. And it actually sits at https://corporate.comcast.com/foundation , which should not be too surprising since Comcast is the owner of NBC Universal.
As for naming and URLs, companies may not want their names associated with their charities or charities they sponsor since those charities can often engage in politics.
In case of BBC Media Action, their purpose is “to use media and communication to reduce poverty, improve health and support people in understanding their rights.”. Obviously, countries that try to restrict citizens’ rights, do not provide affordable healthcare to their citizens, and rely on exploitation of the less advantaged while enriching their billionaires are probably no too happy about BBC Media Action.
