He was a genius, an incredibly compassionate, progressive and generous individual. My mother read his Autobiography and could not praise it enough. He lived a substantial part of his life in Europe after being banned from the U.S. although he probably could have returned. It’s no wonder that he was on Hitler’s and J. Edgar Hoover’s hit list.
