A note: Not all operators have 4096-QAM as goal all the way to 1.8 GHz. Technetix has previously demonstrated all-4096-QAM with their distributed amps.

fmd Whats the split? theres 10G-PON networks doing 64:1 or 32:1 optical splits. A Comcast node is what 150 homes per node, so 150:1 split?

Granted theres not 100% uptake, not all subs subscribe to the top tier, and even then not are all using 100% max rate at the same exact time.

cypherstream An average of 150-200 sharing the same downstream capacity may not be that far off (accounting for node segmentation), with N+0 being maybe half of that. And then adding a number of node splits in the future…

Versus up to 128 on remote 10G-EPON (shorter distances lead to higher splits).

Also note that new optics are needed when Comcast goes there. The current fiber links are too slow. 🙂

fmd wow, ok so SECV is doing about 60 homes passed per node half (A/B) and 1:64 split on 25GPON. Just working on comparing David vs Goliath.
