I’m in an area where ATT Fiber service is patchy - over the last year or so, I’ve seen ATT install new fiber service to many of the neighborhoods surrounding mine, but not mine just yet, and replacing lots of old utility poles both in my neighborhood and the surrounding ones.
Up until a few weeks ago, the ATT website said they couldn’t service my home with internet at all, although a few of the homes at the entry of my neighborhood could get some sort of DSL service. Recently though, it looks like they’ve enabled Internet Air for my address / neighborhood.
I’m wondering that since Fiber has been slowly creeping forward towards my area, if Internet Air is being deployed as a stopgap until my neighborhood also has Fiber installed. Some of the other areas around me had Internet Air before fiber was deployed, but I’m not sure if that’s just a coincidence.
