AlphaPhoenix What do you mean? Why are they getting out? How did they ruin it?
Did you have Nest before the Google acquisition? If not, I can understand how you wouldn’t know.
Like every company Google purchases, they ruin the product, everything from scales by Withings to fitness trackers like Fitbit… and then they abandon the products after they ruined them.
Before Google I had 15 days 24/7 recordings with Nest cameras. After the Google acquisition they randomly cancelled that low-cost plan, turned it into 7 days with event monitoring only which captures ⅕ of what it captured before and increased the price. I switched to Blink and never looked back (but it was a pain in the ass because I had to replace the doorbell).
Nest is absolute garbage now because of Google.
I read this last week but can’t Google this report, basically I read that Google is dropping the entire Nest camera division, support & integration for old thermostats, and dropping support for extras like fire alarms. I believe it’s happening in waves, a number of devices in August and another set of devices in October.
