Localphone VoIP disadvantages

Localphone is a VoIP service with home office in Sheffield, England. They are a sister company to Voxbeam. They provide good service and have some very good prices. Some disadvantages at least in regard to USA customers: 1) If you use Localphone to make an outbound call, and if you have not purchased a phone number (DID) from them, then your caller ID number will show up to the other party as 44114319xxxx which is designated as Sheffield, England. 2) If you use Localphone to make an outbound call, and if you HAVE purchased a phone number (DID) from them, the caller ID number will show up to the other party. However many of these calls may be labelled as Spam because these phone numbers may have STIR/SHAKEN attestations of B or C, rather than A. This seems to have happened after they started using numbers from Onvoy. 3) USA customers may be dinged by their credit card company for an International Transaction fee when paying Localphone. They are a solid company but these issues may be relevant to some customers.

Telcodata lists by thousands block npa-nxx.
The attached thousands block originally showed Vitelity, and changed to Onvoy sometime after they bought Vitelity. My number in that block is currently served by VZW.

Bummer. My Localphone DIDs , now owned by Onvoy, are listed under Bandwith where they originally came from and changed ownership in total three times.
And, after opening my big mouth I just found out that Onvoy apparently bough Y-Max because now Telcodata shows Onvoy on my VZW number !! The number is a VZW number now though.
So, now I have only two really : clean numbers, TMO and Telengy/Callcentric. Oh well.

You are lucky. As I said, my three former Vitelity numbers are all in what are now Onvoy thousands blocks. Serviced by VZW, TMo, and Anveo respectively.

Onvoy did not buy YMax to my knowledge.

YMax is the carrier arm of MagicJack (and they are the same company).

MagicJack merged with the Israeli company VocalTec in 2010.

B. Riley Financial acquired [magicJack VocalTec Ltd.] in 2018 for $143 million. They are venture capitalists.

YMAX is licensed as a CLEC in Florida (supposedly their US headquarters) and other states.

I might be wrong but AFAIK there is no corporate relationship of YMAX with Onvoy/Sinch.

It's possible that Onvoy provides some services to YMAX/MJ.

The founder of MagicJack (Dan Borislow of Florida) died in 2014 at age 52....

it is entirely possible that Onvoy indeed provided DIDs used by YMAX.

I used to be able to obtain LRN from Alcazar Networks, but queries there complete without populating the results window. Might be a browser problem. Using FreeCarrierLookup provides the correct wireless carriers and for the voip number returns Level 3.

Alcazar's working for me using Firefox 135.0 with no extensions, and results include LRN.

Thanks. I restarted Firefox and it works.
I was surprised when I checked an adjacent number in an Onvoy thousands block

Well, someone felt it better to port their number from Onvoy to Vonage....

Despite Vonage fees, they have good service.

OR MAYBE:

Onvoy is now owned by Sinch (Sweden).

Vonage is now owned by Ericsson (Sweden), and Ericsson is VERY sorry they bought it.

ownership changes. My Localphone numbers were originally Bandwidth( providing for Google Voice), then changed ownership twice ( one was U.S. LEC of Florida, the other one I cannot remember) and finally ended up being boughy by Onvoy which seems to be buying anything and everything
