Motorola Moto or Samsung Galaxy?

The Motorola Moto G phone I’ve got has sh%t the bed. I’m looking to get a new not expensive phone., $100-$300. I’m considering another Motorola Moto or a Samsung Galaxy phone.
I don’t done much with the phone. Calls, texts, some email, photos/videos once in a while, simple web browsing type of stuff. I don’t need high quality video or blazing fast response time. I don’t have many apps installed on the current phone.

Any suggestions?

Downsides: Reports say a bit sluggish, mediocre GPS, stuck at Android 14, only for the T-Mobile carriers. But hey, less than 129 bucks.

Pixel Xa series phone is a good option. 9a is less expensive and still very good. Another Moto is also good. Samsung has too much crap on their phones.

what carrier do you prefer? while most phone can work on any network you can get a big discount and financing on some phones with some carriers.
i f you decide to switch, worse case you payoff the phone balance a switch.

I generally go with the moto Gs usually the G series…G powers the last couple times, but looking at a stylus for 2025
5G, Android 15 with a later update, big battery, 30W wired charging very durable even without a case, almost bullet proof with a cheap case and front glass protector. any of the 2024s (now going on clearance sale) are cheap and well reviewed.

I’ve had good luck with the Galaxy phones; currently on a S25 Ultra. They are not cheap but depending on the carrier you may get a good deal. For example, T-Mobile offers bill credits to credit back a portion of the cost.

I too only use limited apps on my phone, dont play any games, and hardly take any pictures. I have been using Moto G phones for years. Currently have the Moto G Play 2024 with US Cellular. When I need to get a new phone US Cellular usually has a promotion for under $30 and sometimes even a penny.

T-Mobile just bought US Cellular. So youll need to pick a phone that supports T-Mobile. Don’t bother with Motorola because they give hardly any support and flood there phones with all sorts of ads. You should go with the unlocked 6.2″ Galaxy S25. I got that one for my elderly mother and she really likes it.

Pretty much all modern GSM phones support T-Mobile.

T-Mobile is very welcoming to all sorts of phones, much more so than AT&T (where the A stands for Anal).

Verizon is the least compatible because of their CDMA legacy.

When T-Mobile took over Sprint (it was kinda messy) part of the problem was that Sprint was largely CDMA.

In fact, a Verizon takeover of Sprint would have been smoother than the T-Mobile takeover of Sprint.

But this T-Mobile / US Cellular combination should be much smoother, very compatible systems which is why Google Fi phone service when it started up, used both with automated switching.

I’ll put my vote in for a lightly used or refurbished Pixel. They are a year more up to date, screen calls (the other phones don’t do what they do) and are solid builds.

Sometimes next year I want to get the new Pixel 10, the base model. I have a 7 that I absolutely love, it has been a God send to be honest. I’ve owned Apple and Samsung and never been happy with either.

Should be good deals on Pixel 8/9 etc now that Pixel 10 is being released.

Google/Pixel and also Samsung, are MUCH better with how many years of future updates compared to Motorola/Lenovo.
