Stembolt Sounds like bad installation (not having the unit at least level) coupled with the standard amount of effort making consumer products next to impossible to take apart and service (even just to clean them). People have posted images of mould growing on the blower squirrel cage which is away from the wet evaporator coils, and the built in filter is just a cheap plastic mesh welded into a plastic frame.
