Need new Rcable provider

Ebox in a couple months is discontinuing service for my parents in their area of Ontario and they’re wanting me to help look for a new provider. Looking for any recommendations but needs to have phone support tho since they’re old.

So far I’ve looked at Teksavvy, Vmedia myself but dad has mentioned Carrytel but I dunno how decent they are as a company.

Over here, I found that Distributel redirected to eBox for a Toronto address. Now I’ve tried with new browser windows and even a VPN, and I’ve been consistently redirected to eBox without even entering an address.

Is pure fiber available at your parents address? Just confirming, they are currently on cable in Rogers territory?

Something very fishy is going on.. Perhaps Bell is consolidating brands, and dropping unwanted cable subscribers as well? Ugh!

Welcome on board. Long time no see/hear. The problem is that with EBOX cable customers, Bell became a low-margin TPIA handing over much of the customer’s payment to Rogers or Cogeco. How’s Mirko supposed to keep up his monthly yacht payments?

TeddyBoom No Fiber in the area, DSL doesn’t seem to be offered anymore and yeah, Rogers does indeed go out front of the house.

weales DSL and copper are generally dead. If Rogers is available, there are resellers. Choose your poison.

I assumed that, because EBOX didn’t migrate her to fibre. Bell owns EBOX https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/bell-acquires-longueuil-based-internet-provider-ebox-819104090.html

I was an EBOX cable subscriber in a condo building wired with Bell fibre. EBOX encouraged me to migrate to fibre. For the same price as 10/1 cable, I was moved to “30/10” fibre. EBOX has since bumped the bottom tier to “60/10” at the same price. The reason I put the numbers in quotes is because EBOX fibre over-delivers. “60/10” is actually 73/93! Ain’t complainin.

Basically, any building where you can get Bell fibre, you can get EBOX fibre, for a lower price at the same speed. EBOX speeds only go up to 1 gig.

Coextro also offers service over Rcable

No personal experience actually using their service though - tried to sign up for their fibre service in my old condo but couldn’t ultimately pull the line as the conduit was blocked.
