There’s a new update out for Windows 11 24H2 in preview
It offers a whole load of features, albeit some are Copilot+ PC exclusives
New abilities include a supercharged search in Settings, cross-device resume with OneDrive files, useful new HDR options and much more

Windows 11 version 24H2 is set to receive a towering pile of new features soon, and they’re already out in an optional patch for those who want to test the waters early. …a couple of Windows related newsletters I receive say do NOT update at this time. Too many issues. There was also just a Windows 10 update that trashed some Win10 installations…

Alway back up before updating! Also, don’t upgrade until you’re ready for new issues.

Well, well, well .. Windows 11, version 24H2 finally installed on my Lenovo desktop (ThinkStation P3 Tower). For the last couple of months, it’s tried to update but stops saying: “the update is not ready for my device yet”. Today the install went though. I’m haven’t noticed any issues.

The Windows 11, version 24H2 update processed on my Lenovo laptop (ThinkPad L15) several months ago the 1st time with no issues.

antdude IDK if this is the same update, but I was reading that an August ’25 update is corrupt some people’s SSDs. Not a minor inconvenience.

Phison has acknowledged that recent Windows 11 cumulative updates, specifically KB5063878 and KB5062660, are causing SSD failures on devices using its controllers, particularly the PS5012-E12 model.

No known fix yet by either Phison or Microsoft. The issue affects SSDs I’ve never even heard of but also a few WD and others. Andyross posted a link with an image, anything with “NG” in the chart is allegedly affected.

They were “good” across the board by this tester so it seems they’re okay.

Personally I would still avoid the update but it seems to be an issue affecting large sustained writes so if you’re not doing that, it probably won’t be an issue.
