Well I shall keep my little corner of the world spinning.

It’s been a minute since I realized dslreports has taken the forever nap.

In my part of town sub contractors mainly OMEGA BORING has been steady shuffling around running conduit and fiber runs throughout a 15 mile radius.

This past week the subcontractors drove around and added more rock filler to all the hand holes. Exciting right?!?

I think over these past few years from what I remember over on dslreports thread the work has been sporadic and often it appears they are wasting money doing things over twice or three times.

I am still on the original 1gig plan.

As stated in another thread it appears the 5 gig plan has been scrapped for a symmetrical 3 up 3 down gigabit plan.

Hopefully anyone from dslreports that rounded out the google fiber board and continue to post here as well. It’s been a pleasure all these years. Here’s to many more

Well things have been grinding very slowly around me. Google is still pulling fiber in random parts of the neighborhood. They work across whole blocks / sections of neighborhood at a time. But they are very much active.

A few days ago I had a service outage and I had to contact customer service over phone call. During this call the rep let me know that my account was on an old version of the 1 gig plan and that he was going to move it over to the CORE tier. By doing this they overnight shipped a new to me 6e WiFi router and extender.

My family survived the dark ages without internet and the router is working. I’m curious now with back in the DSL reports Google fiber boards I remember someone saying to upgrade to say the 5 gig or 8 gig service so they could upgrade the wall jack and the network card back at the “hub” to future proof the connection. Once this would be done say after a month or two I could dial back down to the 1 gig service but be on a better hardware setup.
Anyone remember this???
