On Tuesday, a newly buried fiber cable was installed after a over a year of being stuck with a temp line (old story on DSLreports was my fiber line was cut by hydro contractors and it was a hassle getting rogers to install a temp). They only buried the new cable and told me a tech would come by to do the switch over and remove the temp.
Today, a contractor for Rogers showed up at my house to perform the switch. However, no one was home at the time. He did not call in advance. He parked at the side and could not get in because the side gate is closed. He rung the doorbell and when there was no answer, he went around the other side of house and opened the other gate door by reaching over and entered the backyard (I have it on cameras).
He did remove the temp line and connected the new buried line. But he connected the wrong inside cable at the demarcation point and finished the job with the house’s internet disabled. Switching back to the correct inside cable brought it back online.
While I am not planning to launch a lawsuit or call the press, I am pretty pissed about it. I think that is unethical and disrespectful to enter the property without permission. On top that, he left with the internet disabled. A workorder is not permission to enter the property.
I am wondering if I should bother complaining to Rogers. They probably won’t care since was not their employee.
