New Delhi’s approach is driven in part by its alarm about China’s sophisticated surveillance capabilities, according to a top Indian official involved in the policymaking.

In 2021, Modi’s then-junior IT minister told parliament that 1 million cameras in government institutions were from Chinese companies and there were vulnerabilities with video data transferred to servers abroad.

Don’t allow traffic from cameras or NVRs to leave the local network. Or better yet, restrict it to a segment only used for surveillance.
Don’t buy Chinese-made or U.S.-made security equipment.
Design and build your own, from beginning to end, in India.

I can’t imagine there will be many manufacturers who will willingly submit to those policies.
