Firefox 138 turns the address bar into a command center

This is the first I heard of this. I don’t see anything obvious about it in the release notes.

I’m using FF 138.0.4 on Win 10 and the “@action” does nothing (@‘anything’ does not work either). I don’t see it on the related Mozilla support page. It is also not listed in my “search options” shortcuts at the bottom of the search window or as a choice in my search bar settings.

Maybe this will appear in FF 139 tomorrow?

I did find this image on a Mozilla help page:

But my settings does not include the “action” item. I also could not find where it had been added or removed in any of the 138 release notes. I did see someplace that it is an experimental feature, but then why add it to a release version? Maybe in a beta release?

I did find something on the Mozilla blog dated May 23rd that discuses it so it might be available in tomorrow’s update, but they say it is already available in 138.

I even went into about:config and set browser.urlbar.quickactions.enabled to true and still no joy. Guess I’ll just wait. . .

Forgive the late reply, but I’ve always preferred simple. I basically enjoy a browser that intuitively enables a favicon (bookmark-icons) toolbar, with as many visible as possible on one toolbar (yet be legible). BTW, i keep forgetting how to call the various toolbars, and it doesn’t help that i can’t easily find the answer to same via search-engine images.

I have 16 favicons on my toolbar. Below, I’m attaching a cross-section sample of mine including my opinions stated in bold black/red.
