Thane_Bitter Pasitney seems to subscribe to a good deal of questionable conspiracy-theorist thinking. She even had a commentary criticising the media for coverage of the assault on the neighbour, just as the Supreme Court is weighing whether to hear the case. It sounded like she genuinely believed that media coverage, political commentary and social media activity would sway the top court’s decision.
People far more qualified than any of us agree that, sad as it is, the cull is a necessary evil, based on our current level of understanding of the virus. It is shameful that they have dragged it on this long, and I feel it would set a dangerous precedent if they were to prevail.
On the subject of the cull, it was mentioned in a few places that they are not entitled to the per-bird compensation if the CFIA has to carry out the cull itself. If that’s true, they are rather shooting themselves in the foot with all of their efforts to avoid complying and stalling.
If they’re still having avian flu problems in the United States, I wouldn’t be surprised if egg prices were to surge again. Furthermore, your quote mentions turkeys. Thanksgiving is quite close for us, and local grocery stores already have freezers full of birds. I wonder if prices will explode just as the U.S. holiday approaches, if they end up having to cull turkey farms in at least three states.
Pasitney also seems to think that Canadian politicians have nothing better to do than advocate for her mother’s farm, as if they don’t have enough to worry about, with running the rest of the country. She acts like they should be going out of their way to make statements and decisions in her favour.
