Dks01 No, and also no. Without improvements their deaths are entirely and truly meaningless and are nothing but the latest stats in road carnage. The causes are clear and the risk of this happening again can be reduced so why not? Again you are wrong and arrogant to say that I am not without empathy, there are very few people alive that have not lost someone they care deeply about. Just because I choose not to discuss such matters does not negate their existence.
The families that wished to address the public did so with their own statements or put forward someone to do it on their behalf. I find it distasteful that people, ones not associated with the families or kids even remotely, or are vaguely geographically somehow in a remote and vague proxity are stalking their facebook pages probing for content. I will tell you what I am, I am tired, tired of the same old, with the same old actors that call it a tragedy when the absolute certainly could be expressed mathematical by a handful of dice. I am tired of the money argument, tired of the excuses for having low standards.
You know such changes or improvements do not require the attention, notice or consent of the families. Families are a the beginning of a long and perhaps endless journey to process the loss, some may never be able to move beyond it, some may even be torn apart by it; pain has a sort of inertia that goes on and on. It’s their choice as to what they wish to do. More so the proximity of where these people lived or died, will be honoured and then laid to rest only matters to the family and friends that knew them. The one constant is this sort of intersection is common in every corner of Ontario including near you, they are all built to the same low provincial standard - the risk of this sort of thing happening is everywhere and indeed we see that these are not the first people to be lost,
I am truly thankful the school have hired people, local at that, to work around the clock and help the kids; as you no doubt are aware, that hasn’t been always the case, and more so there was a time when no such help was provided, leaving kids to deal with this on their own. However thirteen other teams of kids from across Ontario played at the park that day, no word of any if any resources allocated to their needs.
Wait and see is simply condemning more people to the same pointless death, plus it carries the risk that the next round of death might include someone you cared about.
