Should I keep Gigabit Level Internet Speed with Peacock Ending next month?

Hello All

Should I keep Gigabit 1100Mbps/35 upload Internet speed for most of the time 2 people in the household? or should i try to get down to 600Mbps speed with same upload i think it is now.

Devices on Network about 7-8 Devices typically

Streaming at times done, not too much 4k Streaming, mostly 1080P
Peacock
Netflix currently thru my Tmobile plan, but probably getting Streamsaver next month to continue Peacock, Only Diamond Reward Member at moment Main account holder is, so sadly no Free Peacock in sight

Gaming on Main Desktop and Gaming Laptop at times

and HBO Max app we subscribe to seperately (9.99 plan)

Downloading games is the only thing where you might be able to notice a difference even going down to 400Mbs. You should be able to find a peacock promo for $24.99/year if you have to pay, but you shouldn’t need 2 subscriptions in the same household.

Yeah gonna make a decision if gonna go with Streamsaver or if im just gonna extend Peacock only, and keep Tmobile Netflix on Cell Phone as only Netflix subscription in household.

Not sure how much Other Household Member would watch Netflix or Apple TV plus if i was to get Streamsaver, as she barely watches the HBO Max we subscribe to now

As for Peacock i watch Organized Crime on it, Movies at times, Emergency Classic TV show at times, sometimes Law & Order SVU, Law & Order, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med. Though since those shows just had there FInales most of them, just will watch Organized Crime and Movies think rest of summer off and on.

Well i don’t know when Peacock 24.99 promotion ends, so might make decision fully early June, and go from there.

computerman2 Have 150/40 currently. We have up to 3 streams going at once. We are a heavy streaming household. I also do some gaming. The only negative about the slow speed is it will take games longer to download, because many games are nearing the 100 Gig + downloads. Outside of that it all works fine. Id say if you can get a significant savings I would.

Well never been on 150 Download in ages, probably not since first got Cable Internet again in 2014 back then. Then Extreme updated to Extreme 300 i believe, then higher from there over the years lol.

(For years at a previous residence that didn’t have cable available for a long time 2005-2014, i managed on AT&T DSL and DirecTV satellite for a while, how i did all i do on 6MB DSL service i’ll never know—Netmeeting video conferencing, Game Downloads, Windows update, Skydrive cloud backups, Google drive backups, and SecondLife Djing from 2008-2025)

Average on data usage these days 1.44TB or Higher–last month was 2.9TB, just normal usage–and yes i scanned all systems for any infections, nothing found

Television side of things i gotta keep the same as Account Holder wants no channels removed, nor Xfinity Complete, or Home Phone

I’ll get it figured out fully in due time here, and go from there

If you haven’t already, check to see if you can switch to the new plans with the 5 year price guarantee that include the gateway and unlimited data. One of those 400 or 600Mbs plans should lower your bill and work fine.

Was on 600Mbs plan til tried to get XB8 Gateway in 2022 lol, and was told had to upgrade to Gigabit to qualify lol. and been on Gigabit plan ever since lol.

Save yourself some money and downgrade to a lower speed.

My Current plan is: 400M/40M with Xfinity. It bursts to _475M

Since I use Instacart, it gives me a free “peacock” subscription.

Tried to Downgrade plan thru Comcast Xfinity Forums a few days ago

In the end Rep was like your current promotion is excellent one already, your gonna be spending more if you go thru with this downgrade, quote came out to be with adding Ultimate TV, Fast 600 Internet, and Home Phone, and More Sports & Entertainment, and Xfi Complete, and DVR fee, to $255.90 a month.

My response was like well that is way too much unforuately, so opted to stay with Current Plan @ 213.94 a month, will be a little more once free Peacock expires, but still do able. So guess keeping Gigabit Internet speed for a long while longer lol.

I can try again with Reddit Rep i suppose later this month, but if no dice, then guess will stay where at**

Also can’t get to local Xfinity store as don’t drive, and Account Holder barely drives herself these days and refuses to. So just will have to see if i can work out a deal online sometime

Well our current plan isn’t too bad $213, alot lower than it was previously on our current plan. used to be $235 a month up til time i got on this current plan in 2024

Well that is good to know, so should be easy reactivation if the current plan drops on June 25th, as Platinum Reward member i do not see as yet the Xfinity Reward for Peacock as yet.

Guess i’ll find out what happens in 5 days, either it will drop i guess, or continue Free possibly

I keep getting the email to set it up when I already have the Xfinity rewards platinum full included version. Guess they can’t figure out I already have it.

jweaver Yea me too, although I currently have it thru the Gigabit plan. What I just found interesting is the fact that there is no mention of Peacock at all on my recent statement (6-30 to 7-29) and I wonder is that just due to the supposed expiration date approaching (June 25). Guess it does not really matter since if I wish to keep it my subscription for Diamond members should be available after this expires…(if it expires lol)

I thought the Rewards one has no expiration date. Mine just shows as included.

jweaver I think you are right, that’s why I am hoping when this one expires thru Gigabit I should be able to jump over to the Diamond benefit and not think about it any more. I see it in my Rewards list but there is no clickable Activate link, and I was previously told that is because I already have it…

Well I just got email about auto renewal of my expiring subscription (6/25/25). Was really thinking about cancelling it awhile back yet I don’t have to feed it lol so I will just keep it just in case!!

Just got the same email that it’s being extended for a year. Hoping that’s all it is and they don’t blow it and charge me for a month since my end date of the promo I’m under for Peacock ends before my internet promo does, even though the entire promo (price, modem, unlimited data, Peacock) was all on one order.
